recap: E’s construction party

a few months before E, i managed to convince him to do a construction theme party for his birthday with this wonderful book I got.

if you have never read this, please get it. as a parent, the book has a wonderful rhythm and rhyme while reading it to your child, night after night.

this party was held in august.

here is the link to my pinterest board if you want any inspirations…..

gate entrance. some guests thought we were really undergoing construction!

sandpit with construction trucks in it

wheel barrow for presents and a sign in board for all guests

we had 2 cakes. both were homemade by my aunt and I was in charge of decorating it. the birthday cake is a pinata strawberry fresh cream cake. what is a piñata cake, you might ask. it’s a cake where there sweets spills out from the centre of the cake when the first slice is removed! it was all very exciting when you see the expression of the children when they saw m&ms spilling out….. the other cake is a chocolate sponge with blueberries fillings, for the adults.IMG_4793

as this was the first time i was decorating a cake, i forgot to take the size of the toy into consideration. the dump truck was extremely impressive on the cake. nice and big….however, it caught fire when we lit the candle!

that’s grandad coming in to ‘save the day’ by blowing the candle out as the truck caught fire! Hilarious!

IMG_4672for activities, i downloaded the image of the dump truck from Crayola for the children to colour with brushes/ fingers! everybody got to take it home as part of their goody bag!

  1. Hi there, what a fun mum your kiddies have. this looks so good!

Oh, I simply adore great pictures of food! This looks so tasty.

Here’s a Christmas freebie for you:

The link below takes you to a short article, which shows how you can easily obtain your gift. (but…if you’re suspicious that’s there’s no such thing as a free gift and don’t want to go clicking onto links, you can check it out the other way through my blog, by typing “light-bites for your heart” on the Reader page. It is the most recent blog entitled ‘A Christmas Present For You All’.)

I hope you like it and can have some fun with it. Best wishes for a fantastic Christmas.

Hi, Thank you for the compliments! It’s really hard trying to balance work with family and still find time to update the blog! I am trying to keep this blog alive so that I can share these memories with the boys when they grow up =)

      1. Ah, they will really appreciate that! 🙂
